FRAME RESTORATION
When we restore frames, the first step is to rebuild any missing pieces. Then we address other repairs to the frame before gilding the repairs to match the existing parts.
FRAME REPLICATION
This is an example of what we can do when it comes to reproduction frame making. This piece hangs in a boardroom with many other framed portraits, all having identical frames that are no longer available for sale. It was important to the client for all the frames to match. We can create an exact replica frame honoring the latest edition to the boardroom...It's what we do.
THE GILDED LILY
This beautiful hand carved Florentine frame was hanging in a prominent downtown Indianapolis home. One day, the hanging wire broke and this magnificent frame fell to the floor, breaking into many pieces.
Petrov Frame Atelier is one of the few places in the country that would take on a restoration project of this scale and complexity.
To bring this masterpiece back to its original beauty, Anatoly and his team completely restored the salvageable parts and pieces. For parts that were not recoverable, new pieces were re-carved by hand. Once back to its beautiful solid structure, 23k gold leaf was applied in the traditional gilding process over the frame's entire surface.
